Restored Sprint car

Sean Hillis, esteemed ARM member, hero fireman, restoration wizard (hey the guy restored a Piper Cub airplane and flew it!), is in the process of restoring a Steve Stapp sprint car. This car may have been a mid 1970's back up car for Duane "Pancho" Carter, on his way to winning the 1974 USAC national sprint car title, the early season car was dark in color, not the yellow #6 that is noted for winning the title. No matter what the exact history, any Stapp sprint car is a thing of beauty, and Sean will make this car a jewel. The 1974 title winning car is fully restored just as it was in 1974, yellow with the Dobbins Chev livery on it and belongs in another collection. So Sean is doing a tribute, restoring a genuine Stapp and painting it in the dark color with the #6, I think that's what Sean is planning. Here are some shots of the project in progress, I for one can't wait to see the finished project, Sean is trying to get it in running condition for the Belleville, KS vintage meet July 27 & 28, just a couple weeks from now.

Stapp Frame waiting assembly.

Plated bolt on hardware, ready for installation.

Front axel, and suspension parts.

Painted body panels, with numbers and lettering, it will be mind blowing.

Should look something like this when finished, nice eh?

Here's the 1974 title winning car, I'd trade my kids, cats, dogs, and some of my beer for that car.
