My late grandfather purchased a race car in the 1920's from a person that originally raced the car in the Indianapolis 500. He raced in many local races in the southern Indiana area in the mid 1920's. My family still owns the car but we are quite uncertain as to what we should do with it. It is complete and original but in fairly poor condition as it was stored in a barn for many years. I feel that preservation is a better option over restoration. I also feel that since it is such a historic piece it should be in a place that others could see it. I would like any advice as to how it should be cleaned and preserved. I can provide photos of the car in its current condition with hopes of obtaining any history of our particular car. Any advice or knowledge would be greatly appreciated.
