Hi. I am Bill Crowley of Napa, CA. I was Secretary of NARC (Northern Auto Racing Club) from 1966-1985. Today I am half-owner of a sprint car built in the early 1930's by Bob (or Art?) Scovill, which ran at the first sprint car race at Calistoga in 1937. Known owners were Joe Rand, Howie Young, and Ed Scherer. Known drivers were Joe Rand, Jack Flaherty, and Fred Agabasian. Power was a 4-Port Riley on a Ford B-base, which was sold from the car in 1955. This car sat in a barn in Alexander Valley, CA from 1955-1966, when it was purchased by my partner (the late) Rick Arata and myself. We repowered it with a Chevrolet V-8 and ran it with NARC in 1968 & 1969. Presently working on restoring the car to post-war configuration using a SOHC McDowell head on a B-base. The missing link in completion is a throttle body for a Windfield Model S updraft carb (I have one complete carb, and a good bowl assembly for another, but a broken throttle body w/missing parts). I have a good/usable Winfield Model SR throttle body available for trade. I have photos, available by email (can't post?)
