As promised here is my favorite photo from my collection of over 500 from the 1940's to 1970's.
Date is 1946 or 47. Bob had just loaded his car after a full night of racing on the very tight 1/4 mile at Cemar Acres. Track ran from the 40's to the 50's.
Pretty cool constuction worker type helmet, with leather side straps. Car number and the name BOB on the top. Cig in hand and wearing a watch. Pants have dirt and grease stains from the nights action. Pretty happy looking driver so must have had a good night.
Check out the old GMC pulling the trailer.
Is that a Studebaker next to the car?
No roll bars and one lap belt back then. To have such a long career in Midget racing was remarkable.
